BRESSINGHAM & DISTRICT LADIES CLUB |
Report from Susan Willats - click here to see photos of the group > |
Despite some murky Monday evenings, our 32 members have enjoyed our monthly meetings which always provide a welcome opportunity to catch up with one another over a cup of tea or coffee (and, hush hush, the odd chocolate biscuit, thanks to Jan!)
At our February meeting, Lawrence Flatman had only a short way to come to visit us and share his delightful reminiscences, including some of the characters he has met along the way and his happy years spent at Blooms. We heard about all the preparation that went on behind the scenes in order to achieve the ultimate accolade - winning a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Our next meeting will be this Monday, 19th March when we are looking forward to a visit from Tom Tyler who will be giving a talk with the intriguing title “One for the Pot” about his missionary work in the Solomon Islands. On 16th April the AGM comes round once again (can it really be a year?) when we look forward to some new faces joining our committee to bring with them some fresh ideas. Our committee during this past year, as ever, have worked hard and enjoyed themselves too.
Looking all the way forward to 21st May, our speaker will be David Eddershaw who will tell us about “The Real Larkrise”, so in the meantime we will hopefully have the chance to re-read Flora Thompson's wonderful book about her country childhood. |

RESIGNATIONS |
|
Sue Craggs has sadly resigned from the Parish Council after four years so we would like to take this opportunity to thank Sue for all her work. She worked tirelessly for three years helping to produce the Parish Plan and as a result of this important document, several initiatives are already underway in the Community. Further news on these initiatives will be soon be updated on the Parish Plan page. |

Geoff Harvey has resigned as Footpath Warden after 20 years. Geoff has had a home in Bressingham for 50 years and as a keen walker has completed, amongst many walks, the Boudicann Way, Angles Way and Peddars Way (click here for more info about these walks).
Geoff was the first Footpath Warden and during his time produced the Parish walks map and, together with Andy Williams, restored many paths installing the first signs and stalls. Geoff's knowledge is vast and he is going to be much missed as a Warden. Many thanks Geoff for all your hard work. |

NEW SOFT PLAY AREA |
 |
Blooms of Bressingham Garden Centre has a new soft play area in their restaurant and Liz Handy took Scarlett, her 2-year old grand daughter, to try it out.. She loved it so much Liz had to take her every day for a week and Scarlett made lots of friends whilst Liz relaxed, enjoyed a cup of tea and was still be able to watch her. Plenty of other Mums, Dads, Grannys and Grandpas did the same too so why not go along and see for yourself meanwhile see more here > |
