EVENSONG SERVICE 21st APRIL
On Sunday 21st April a most unusual service took place in Bressingham church.  The Evensong Service was taken by the Rev'd Canon Tony Billett and the music was provided by the barrel organ.  This was played before and after the service, and for the four hymns by Rodney and Sarah Briscoe.
It was extremely moving to hear the wonderful sound coming from the back of the church on this magnificent instrument which has been in Bressingham church for over 150 years. Prior to the service Rodney had very kindly tuned it, and taped over the 'extra' holes which had been made by mice sharpening their teeth on one of the pipes! During the service which had readings given by Ellen Jolly and the Rev'd Maggie Swayze, and prayers by the Rev'd John Pares, a presentation was made to Brenda Oates.

Brenda, who has lived in Bressingham since 1965 will soon be leaving to be near her son Martyn and his family in Devon. A secret collection had been made for her and she was presented with a broach, flowers and gardening tokens.  As well as Diana, one of the churchwardens, saying a few words, Ted Curson the tower captain also expressed his thanks to the Oates family for giving the money for the bell appeal which resulted in the magnificent set of bells the church now has.  Six ringers, close the Brenda rang before the service and these included Julie Beasley whose late husband had been instrumental in getting the project off the ground.  Brenda was very surprised and knew nothing about the presentation before the PCC were asked to go the the front of the church during the service.

Brenda would like to thank everyone who attended the service and gave to her presents. Afterwards wine was served and a great evening was had by all. See more photos >

NORFOLK VILLAGE GAMES ROADSHOW

This fabulous event took place on Saturday 27th April 2013 and here are a few photos (petanque taken by Mr D Watling, others taken by Peter Barnett). You can see lots more photos by clicking here >

And here's Brenda's report ........As usual the Archery went down well and people could have a go over 2 hours which was very good and we also had another 2-hour session with a table tennis coach, who proved just as popular. At midday our local netball umpire had two teams (mixed) and there was great competition between them. At that point the weather turned colder but the exercise kept them all warm! Afterwards we had fried egg sandwiches, courtesy of Dawn B, which went down very well. A major thing that came out of the event was the suggestion that we could do a weekly FAMILY get together to play some table tennis, darts games and a general chit chat. A Friday night was suggested so if you would like to participate then ring myself Brenda on 01379 688375 or Allan 688452 and we will work out a suitable start date. As usual may I stress this is open to the whole Parish, young and old.  Thank you to all who came and I hope you enjoyed this FREE village event.
